The EVM serves as an interface adapter or bridge between host PC (IBM compatible) and one or more subordinate devices (via standard A-mini B-type USB cable). The communication between USB interface adapter and host PC is realized by USB, while the communication between USB interface adapter and subordinate device is realized by internal integrated circuit (I2C), SMBus, PMBus and/or general input/output GPIO. The bridge transacts the communication transaction between USB and serial protocol.

Characteristic

• Support main mode I2C, SMBus or PMBus and GPIO.
• Support USB1.1 at full speed (12 Mbit / sec). The host recognizes the USB interface adapter as a universal human-machine interface device (HID), so no special USB or HID driver is needed. Therefore, the USB interface adapter can be used as USB plug and play device.
• Select different clock speeds (100kHz or 400kHz) for I2C, PMBus or SMBus communications.
• Different pull-up resistors are configured for clock, data and alarm signals (including drain open circuit).
• Supports flexible I2C read or write transactions (specifying raw data, not device addresses, commands, etc.).
• Contains.NET DLL to support Windows.NET GUI using this adapter.
• In addition to Microsoft.NET Framework version 2, it does not rely on any other Windows products.
